Who is STEAMWORKS?
STEAMWORKS is a not-for-profit, Sheffield-based, educational organisation on a mission to get more children engaged in STEM by adding art, design and creativity into the regular science, technology and mathematics curriculum to create STEAM (STEM+Art=STEAM).
We help schools and communities provide more opportunities to get kids involved by providing a range of outstanding programmes across South Yorkshire and North Derbyshire.
These include after-school Fab Labs, class workshops, holiday clubs, teacher CPD and Young Science Ambassadors.
STEM + ART = STEAM
We believe it is essential to combine design and creativity with science, technology, engineering and maths to provide fun learning opportunities that enable children to be innovative, imaginative and inventive!
Our STEM activities aim to inspire curiosity about the wonders of science in our everyday lives, provide opportunities to investigate the structures and materials used in technology and engineering, and encourage exploration of mathematical patterns and shapes in both the natural and manufactured world.
All of our exciting and fun after-school and holiday activities are based around core scientific and mathematical skills and concepts to encourage young people to become enthusiastic about a future in STEM. Not only are science, technology, engineering and mathematics fundamental disciplines that are becoming increasingly central to our children's future, but developing the ability to think critically and creatively is vital to innovation and ingenuity!
We’re a proud Children’s University Learning Destination!
As a Children’s University (CU) Learning Destination, our activities will help your child to develop essential life skills as well as having fun, making new friends and building their confidence.
If they have a Children’s University Passport to Learning, they can earn CU credits with us (1 per hour), towards CU Award Certificates and Badges. These are presented at special awards ceremonies.
Contact us to ask how your child can get involved in CU through our activities, or visit www.childrensuniversity.co.uk/
Did you know? We are also part of the Out-of-School Alliance (OOSA).
